Sleeping Beauty, based on the fairytale by Charles Perrault, tells the story of Princess Aurora, whose christening is interrupted by an uninvited evil fairy. Angry at being left out of the celebrations, the fairy places a curse on the baby princess: before her sixteenth birthday, Aurora will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. One of the good fairies softens the curse, changing it so that Aurora will instead fall into a deep sleep until awakened by true love's kiss. 

Despite the King and Queen banning every spinning wheel in the kingdom, Aurora eventually discovers one hidden away in an old tower and accidentally fulfills the curse. As she falls asleep, the good fairies place the entire kingdom under the same magical sleep while a forest of thorns grows around the castle… until a brave prince hears of the sleeping princess and makes his way through the enchanted forest. He finds Aurora, breaks the spell with true love's kiss, and the whole kingdom awakens. The story ends with celebrations as good triumphs over evil, reminding us that courage, hope and kindness can overcome even the darkest magic.
